115/ AMA: Fall's New Neutrals, Comfy Work Shoes, Raey-esque Brands & My Thought Process When Getting Dressed
Part 2 of my summer AMA.
Me revoilà! In Part 1 of my summer AMA, I shared tips on shopping resale without getting overwhelmed, finding inspiration in your closet, and tying up ankle-tie sandals so you’re not cutting off your circulation.
Onward with Part 2!
Q: Would also love ideas of comfortable closed toe shoes for work!
Oh, I had fun sourcing these!
Everything about these Stine Goya wedges are appropriate for the corporate office, and yet that heel is giving! Ditto for the shape of the Toteme wedge pump (shown in off-white, but also comes in silver and black).
I like the idea of using these Toteme gathered ballerinas to give softness to an outfit of otherwise strong suiting lines.
Jil Sander rarely misses in its shoe game, and these gold ring black flats are no exception.
Red remains relevant into the F/W 2024 season, and — more on this below — so are dark brown and burgundy.
If you’re looking for a more affordable Miu Miu Escarpins alternative, consider giving Browns’ Fulton flat and Tony Bianco’s Kokos a try.
And, lace up ballerinas 2.0? It’s intrigued.

Maximilian Davis’ colour palette for Ferragamo F/W 2024 had me in a chokehold:
As did Anthony Vaccarello’s for Saint Laurent:
Looking past the clothing for a moment — which are spectacular — and focusing just on the hues, as I studied the photos, it dawned on me that both collections are a catalogue of highly wearable Ring 3 colours.
I began to wonder what my closet (and your closets!) would look like if we were to move more of our foundational pieces away from tried-and-true Ring 2 colours and into Ring 3 territory?
What if our monochromatic looks weren’t black, grey, cream, oatmeal, or navy, but rather aubergine, olive, or tobacco? What if, instead of a navy pant, you went for “Hass avocado”? What if, instead of a charcoal wool coat, you opted for chocolate brown? And, what if you switched out your black tote for burgundy or khaki?
WHAT IF?
I think it would look pretty damn great!!
Head-to-toe monotone is certainly striking, but it could be costly to invest in whole outfits. Instead, consider adding a versatile piece or two from the colour palette, such as a bag, trouser or sweater:
