Paris was made for a walker like me.
Dense and compact, its streets are eminently walkable, and the city is relatively small, stretching just 10 kms across, both north-to-south, and east-to-west. Last summer, I began the life-changing habit of walking at least an hour a day, and incidentally, 10 km is what I comfortably walk on the average day.
All to say, it was truly a pleasure to wander through a large swath of Paris à pied discovering what its resale landscape had to offer. I clocked close to 40 km over two days, dropping into dozens of shops along the way, about 20 of which I’m sharing with you today
Like my round-up of shopping in Tokyo, the shops range from luxury consignment stores, down to flea markets, and everything in between. Just as you would expect to find a lot of Japanese brands in Tokyo resale shops, Paris shops were disproportionately filled with French brands — from the famed fashion houses of Chanel (So. Much. Chanel.) and Hermès, to high and low brands of today.
If you’re visiting Paris soon, I’ve made a numbered map for you to help you visualize your route. As a visual-spatial learner, I love maps! (Fun fact: I passed algebra and organic chemistry solely by rotating thingies in my head despite not knowing sh*t about why I was doing it.) And if you’re not in Paris, most of these stores have online shops — just watch out for those duties. *abandons cart*
