021/ AMA: Summer Wedding Guest Dresses, Postpartum Strategy & Win A Closet Consultation With Me!
Hello dear readers!
I’m back with more Ask Me Anything. ICYMI, last week was my first instalment of AMA where I answered your questions on how to dress for size fluctuations and summer heat, and what to ask yourself when you’re craving a trendy statement piece. I love doing AMAs, and it will be a regular feature of In Moda Veritas going forward.
Before I get into this week’s questions, I have an announcement!
I’ll be giving away a closet consultation to a lucky paying subscriber on Thursday, April 27! All paying subscribers are automatically entered. If you’re not a paying subscriber yet, become one today to be eligible to win. (But, seriously, beyond the consult, I have so much styling and market knowledge I’m eager to share with you that I know you’ll find valuable.)
If you’ve never worked with me, here’s what you can expect:
My goal is to help you build a wardrobe that you love and is functional and versatile for your lifestyle.
We will do a pre-appointment intake which will help me get to know you better, including your needs and concerns around your wardrobe and getting dressed.
Over FaceTime or Google Meet, we will go through most of the pieces of your closet and discuss what’s working or not working and why. Throughout the process, you’ll be trying on many of your pieces, and we’ll organically come up with outfits you may not have thought to put together — but they work! It’s the best feeling…
We will identify the pieces you could add to fill in any gaps and would add more versatility to the rest of your pieces.
Now onto this week’s questions:
Would love your advice on dressing for body changes (just had a baby!) / fluctuations - how much to hang onto that fits different times in my size range?
I answered the second half of this question last week, so now I’ll be answering the first half: postpartum dressing strategy.
I call it a strategy because it’s hard to predict how your body will change postpartum, and what that timeline will look like. You may go back to your pre-partum body relatively quickly (e.g. 6 months to a year), or you may see more permanent changes in size and shape. Every woman is different, so it’s hard to be specific here, but I’ll try.
I’m going to make some assumptions here: that you’ve gained weight during your pregnancy and you’re still carrying some of that now, especially around your middle (breasts to thighs). You want to look and feel great in your clothes, but your pre-partum wardrobe doesn’t fit at the moment. Because you don’t know what changes are coming, you don’t want to invest too much money into buying new clothes that you may not fit into in the near future. You may also be breastfeeding or dealing with healing from a C-section or other pregnancy and birth-related complications.
