061/ Using Tension To Elevate Your Joggers
Casual outfits that feel as considered as they are practical
A common thread I see in my personal styling work and in the comments of this newsletter is something along the lines of this:
you appreciate the art, beauty, and drama of capital-F Fashion;
you may regularly be “dressing up” for work, events and night’s out;
yet, a small or — not uncommonly — large part of your life is actually very casual.
Maybe you work-from-home, or you live in a rural area or casual city (hi, West Coast). Maybe you’re at hockey practice five days a week, or you have a dog that needs walking, or errands to run.
The sum of these activities may make up a significant portion of your life. And what I hear again and again is that you want to be comfortable and appropriately casual for them, but also polished.
Many of us — including myself — end up throwing on activewear or sweats, casual footwear and outerwear and out the door we go.
If this works for you, great! But, if you’re one of those people going for “casual and polished,” keep reading. In today’s newsletter, I’m exploring how to use the push-and-pull of tension to create elevated casual outfits.
