I really appreciate that you wear your everyday piece on vacation. I don't think it is an approach that is often seen as we're encouraged to always shop for summer holiday when we already have things in our closet. I feel it is even more true that I now live in a place where I dress 'vacation-y' for a good 4 to 5 months. And I haven't bought a thing, but a swimsuit and beach towels. I've been repurposing many of the pieces I have been wearing since forever. The only thing I am not good at for summer are shoes because I have flat feet and sandals are not the best. I spent last summer with Birckenstock which I feel is the only option marrying comfort and style.
I appreciate this note, Emmanuelle! It's validating because, especially in my line of work, I do feel the pressure to have the newest pieces, not just vacation! I'm not opposed to buying vacation pieces, but when I consider my lifestyle, climate, budget, i.e. all the things, I really don't need much of it at all.
As for the flats issue, I'm flat footed too and I'm sure we can find some options for you!
I am totally guilty of going too boho on vacation so I will bookmark this to use this as inspiration for a trip to Hawaii later this year! I like a little boho but it just doesn't translate so well back on the TTC when I'm back home in Toronto. The billowy maxi skirts are a safety hazard lol
I love this! I feel like I get a lot of notes from people who bought some thing for vacation and then never wore it and are looking for ways to wear it later on. I surefire way to get around that is not to buy anything for vacation! That really appeals to me. this summer we are going to Greece and I have an idea of how I wanna feel there. And I think I’m just going to pick and choose from what I have on hand that could make me feel that way. Thank you so much for inspiring me.
*raises hand* I can include myself in that group of people until I eventually gave away those pieces because I never wore them! I forgot to mention summer of 2022 in France/Italy, I just wore my regular clothes and it all worked out!
Was contemplating that Frankie Shop tee with shoulder pads for several weeks now (yes, I am an overthinker🙃) and just purchased it in black and white after seeing it on you!
!! This has been around for a few years and it’s a SOLID purchase IMHO. It’s a heavy weight cotton (unlike their muscle tee) and the shape adds instant modernity to an outfit. 💯!! Let me know how it goes!
Great question! I took a 36 originally because I thought it was TTS but I forgot it's DK sizing, and I've made that mistake before. So I'm actually a DK34 = US4 = FR36.
Well as I live in year round warm/hot/hotter Florida, this is the way would I dress normally if I was going out. Except for shorts or minis ( I'm 72, 'nuff said) or anything woolen. Love
Oh!! And a couple of beautifully embroidered Injiri dresses from India which are thin cotton, flowy and very cool. Just buttoned around the waist with a cotton tank and leggings underneath. Or buttoned all the way, sleeves rolled up with a cotton cardigan around my shoulders for air/con restaurants for dining out. I also have a wonderful collection of silk and cotton scarves which I use for my iara dress ups.
I wear same ole' same ole' as I wear normally. As I live in Ft Lauderdale which technically, geographically weatherwise and emotionally IS the beach. But, I have discovered a fantastic line made exclusively in 100% of the softest, silkiest, coziest, drapiest ( is this a word?) coolest Peruvian Pima cotton. It's a capsule collection comprised of two different jumpsuits, soft blazer, button down, soft joggers, wide pants, crop tops long and short sleeved -- to be mixed and matched, dressed up or down --that I never, ever want to take off. I wished they made harem pants. Then I could put my whole closet on sale and just wear iara forever...amen. 🙏🏻☀️🌴

Yay! So glad it is heavier weight as I typically don’t wear a bra unless needed for coverage which is rarely ( not much there to support🙃).
I will let you know when I receive them!
Dropped a photo from Oct 2020 in the chat. I love this top!!
Hello dear Irene, which size did you choose for the Herskind Alice Jacket? TY Tania

Great thank you :-)
Omg yeah those shorts have me on a hunt for vintage YSL…
There are so many of resale sites like Etsy and Poshmark!
Those shorts! I want.
There are so many similar shorts on Poshmark, Etsy, etc... My mom wore a pair like them in the 80s and 90s!

Thank you so much, Irene! The ones you linked are perfect.

Harem pants - very boho, but keeps me cool.
And what do you wear on beach vacations, Janine!
