Gasp! Your outfits for NYFW are each so good but I'm partial to Day 2/Tibi and that incredible Grace Ling skirt. I think I would break my neck watching your walk by. I find it so lovely that you wore what YOU wanted to even if it wasn't the specific brand for the show.

Can I ask how tall you are? I’ve debated between long and reg Calders at 5’4” and change…

I’m 5’6”! That’s a tough one…right in between! Have you asked the Facebook group Tibi Fans? I’m sure a lot of them would have insight. Also I just realized I’m pretty short legged relative to my height, so if you’re more balanced or have a shorter torso, I’d go for long.

Hi, I'm 5'6" with long legs and bought the long. I have since sold them. The French Terry is fairly heavy weight and has to be washed to regain it's shape. The shape is fantastic and the fabric a personal preference.

I love that you wore something you loved and wanted to wear AND felt self conscious. Just sharing this and sharing so much brain food -- I think if we do this more, more of us will be willing to experiment. Without that -- whatever it is -- that makes a person want to blend or fear looking ridiculous. THANK YOU.

Hi Irene- have you done a post about styling products for your hair? I’m in that 2b/c group and always gathering information- the struggle is real. And it shouldn’t be a struggle lol!!

Hi Sogole! I haven’t and I probably won’t bc I’m so far from a pro about curls! I’m also extremely low maintenance about my hair, ie 90% of days I air dry, and sleep on it and whatever it looks like in the morning is what I wear (usually tied up). Having said that, I trust my stylist! Ever since I started going to her I’ve been using, upon her rec, Kevin Murphy killer curls, or motion lotion or something that will hold the curls. You have to put it in right after washing when hair is wet/damp. You can either leave it or diffuse it. Key is not to run your fingers through it! Let the curls gather naturally. It’s also a fine balance of how much product to put it. Too much and your hair will get crunchy. I’m the TikTok’s, thats the only product I used! I think Kevin Murphy has some sort of shine mist which I spray sometimes, but that’s really it! If you have any suggestions, I’m all ears bc I’m a newbie too

Hi Irene! All of these looks are perfectly fabulous. And inspiring. So much so, that I’m persuaded to seek out some of the Tibi pieces. Can I ask about the size of your Liam blazers? I’m a similar height and build, so it would be very helpful. Thanks so much!

Expand full comment

Oh cool! The Liam is such a great blazer if you’re into a relaxed look! I take a small, medium was way too big, and while Xs “fit”, there are some

Key things I look for when fitting a Liam for ME. I say me, bc some ppl choose to size down bc they find TTS to be too big.

1) it’s important to me that the drop shoulder drops comfortably. The XS shoulder drops, but it also does this thing where it doesn’t quite drop enough and looks a little more snug through the shoulder. Again this is a personal preference. I also should mention even though I’m usually a 4, my shoulders a bit wider (maybe a 6 in some blazers). OTOH, if you have narrow shoulders, the TTS Liam might indeed seem to big on you.

2) the cross over button - I use it a fair bit and my preference is for the back of the blazer to still fall straight and not be pulled or cling to my waist from the back (does that make sense)? Xs easily buttons across, but then it doesn’t fall straight down the back for me.

3) and finally height. I usually observe in clients that below 5’3, people feel like the Liam swallows them up.

I hope that helps!

Irene I love all of these so much!!!! But the first look, the balance of the glittery shoes with the baggy denim shorts and the blazer vest combo, is perfect to me. 👩🏼‍🍳💋

I hope it’s related to the WIW topic. I have a gap in evening tops. Got great pants (not so much a skirt girl) but fancy restaurant type of top or, evening out to a nice bar . Any suggestions? Thank you!
