Here's an idea for a column, Irene! "If I could only have one, I'd get...." Doesn't matter if it's high or low end so long as you're truthful! If you could only have one pair of blue jeans, one pair of black jeans, one trouser, one sweat pants, one t-shirt, one cashmere sweater, one coat etc. The plethora of brands and recommendations can be overwhelming on Substack, then the working out of who is a sponsor (and therefore less effective as a recommendation from the writer no matter how much they avow they really love it)... I'm sitting here thinking that I'm sick of multiples, over-consuming and I just want to get the best version of a simple thing. Obviously this changes a bit on different bodies, but your styling is chic and your mix of pricey and affordable is realistic. That said, if everything is pricey in your "If I could only have one" I want to hear those without filter! Thanks for listening!

I love love this idea for a newsletter! But here’s the thing, I got the COS sweater bc I didn’t want to splurge on Lisa Yang. The Zara boots bc the Isabel Marant were too expensive. Even the Raey I got secondhand but if I could I’d get Celine. All the say, I would probably pick a pricier version everytime if I had an unlimited budget. I think what’s more realistic is if you gave me a total budget and then you could see where I’d choose to go low vs high and high and vice versa. That’s typically the scenario I deal with with clients. Let me know your thoughts!

And re the sweater, boots and Raey coat, going back to Q5 of my Five Questions, even if I could afford a higher price point, I don’t know if I would because those three pieces have been durable over years and I don’t see the need to spend more.

I love, love, love your head to toe red outfit! 😊 and it's so inspiring how you combine color and how you layer just in general. Do you have any style resolutions or goals for 2025?

I can get so myopic....always ignored Tory Burch, I can't get that dumb flat named after her mother out of my head !!!! You just opened my eyes to total redo and the skirt you got I prefer to the dress.......... All of this is great looking and great info. Wish I had access to the Japanese websites....will work on that.... Btw the Sacai piece is a forever keeper.....xxxs

Every time I mentally have the conversation where I say “I want to be a skirt girl like Irene” and then the other half of me says “stop it Kelly, you never wear skirts!”

I've been a tory girl forever, but can only really indulge during her twice yearly sales. I tend to window shop and keep things in mind throughout the year, and while I don't know if I ever would've bought the pieces I have at full price, they all have staying power of years and years. I even have a crossbody bag from 2014 still in my arsenal! All that to say, I LOVE the toryssance and this recap of why she's been taking off :)

Always 🩷💜💙❤️ your looks.

I just noted something… love the CdG skirt with the MiuMiu flats and creamish sweater on top.

I’m in Jax- it’s 🥶 right now- 41 degrees F!!!! That’s as cold as it gets for 2-3 days then back to mid 70’s.

I note your dimensions really work. Here, I can’t top of most of my stuff with thicker sweaters- once I’m inside, it gets too hot.

So for the thicker//fuller bottom ( satin slip midi’s, wide leg pleated pants-how can I balance the top? I have light merino sweaters and a bunch of button downs in silk/poplin- my uniform at work. Can’t wear jeans.

I’m a doctor and work in hospital and wear my white coat on top daily!!!

I’d love your take on this. I got the basics down but I want to Irenefy my work uniform😉

Positively balmy 41F! I know this sounds like a simple question, but I have so many questions in response in order for me to answer it well!

For the wide leg pants you can wear more fitted on top or you can go more relaxed. Are you merino sweaters and button downs fitted or relaxed? Do you need to tuck them in (i.e. does tucked out look unprofessional in your environment). Does putting the lab coat over something oversized look messy?

Can you pls clarify - to me satin slip midis are not thicker/fuller?

You always have a feminine, neat, preppy + flirty look. And I adore how you style your clothes. Really love your bigger portion on top- be it a sweater or blazer or polo. Your tops always seem layered- more complicated.

And love when you wear that straight Zara midi skirt with the bigger dimension on top. I think that’s why I mentioned my slip skirts.

At work- need to look crisp/professional/neat and always wear my white coat. So my tops are always more fitted, if not looks messy.

Just trying to get ideas for other tops I could wear but as I write this- not sure for any looser/bigger dimension tops that would work with my white coat🤔. But I’ll see what you can come up with 🙏🏼.

In my non Proff life, wear high waisted/wide leg jeans, jean Bermuda’s and satin midi’s and some fuller skirts. Would guess in this non-Proff world, easier to add a larger silhouette on top. I have too many loose button downs- one in each color affliction🤦🏽‍♀️!

Hope this helps👍🏽
