Love this read and I have been guilty last few years of buying too much or pieces that I then don’t use too often because they were impulsive purchases. Great article to have in mind when buying as I am in the process of curating the wardrobe now that moving overseas.
Can I afford it? No.....this is usually my barrier! If finances are a factor Irene do you tend to let things go or save up for the things you love. I’m starting again really with my wardrobe. I guess this will take time-Would you suggest buying pieces you love and waiting/saving or find placeholders? I wonder what you would say are fundamentals when starting out with your wardrobe? (Maybe this fits under ideas for posts) thanks so much!!
It will definitely take time. Be patient! It depends on how important it is for you to have variety early on. If you like playing with clothes and outfits, you will need pieces, in which case get good placeholders. I definitely need to a fundamentals post. But I did make some reels about it on IG...have a look at those first! I’ll get on it!
You find the coolest pants and skirts. I'm looking for dieting that i can dress up and use multiple times. But there are so many boring options eg. Blk pointe pants.,where do u go to source these please? Local shopping is very limited.
Questions like this are so helpful to consume less and find pieces that you really love! It’s not really a question but I like to keep things in my cart for awhile to help impulse shopping.
Revisited this piece after going vintage shopping and getting fixated on a piece. I felt conflicted and remembered you wrote this! Ultimately I decided not to purchase but I feel so grounded (rather than conflicted) about my decision because of your 5 Qs!
I love to hear this!! Thank you for coming back and sharing! I know exactly what you felt...just a peace knowing that the piece wasn't meant to be yours and it's all good.
I am not sure how I stumbled upon your Instagram and then here, but so glad I did! I love your style and this post was so, so helpful! Thank you for sharing your thought process with us!
I am going to be reading this over and over. And I too need to let heels go ...
Read away! 😉

Thank you for your wisdom! You are amazing! I’ve been all over those reels-really appreciate them, 😊
Not a lot of heels left for me either- if only we could have Jenna Lyons shoe closet lol
Just going to screenshot this and read it before I buy….
Good idea!
What a great start! Lots of valuable information here and I'm decidedly guilty of owning far too much denim. This struck a chord.

Hi Sue, what are black pointe pants? Are you looking for dressier bottoms? What kind of style?
Sorry Irene for all the typos. I just want a cool option for dressier pants that i can wear in multiple ways that are not work related. I'm
Also short. Your pants that you wear are all so cool.
Over a year old and I continue to refer to this post!!
Forever relevant!

And at some point they sell out, and I’m like, oh well!
Such a thoughtful process for one to consider prior to making a purchase. I am looking forward to reading more of your thoughts.
Thank you Susan for your support and subscribing!
My favourite is "do I feel like a goddess in this?" ✨
P.S. I'm a flat shoes chick too!
