Hi Irene! I recently discovered your instagram, and I’m so glad I did! :) I’m here for the fashion, but also your openness about mental health, perimenopause and motherhood. Thank you!!

In terms of newsletter, I would love to learn more on how you care for your clothes, how you store it so that it’s easy to see. What are must haves for clothes to look good: steamer? What are your thoughts and recommendations for people whose size fluctuates +/- 1 size?

yes to size fluctuations + perimenopause (related, yes?)! i’m 44 and think my body is starting to change. suddenly many of my pants/jeans are a bit snug and i’m contemplating how to shop wisely to resolve the issue!

Hi Amy, this is a good idea for a post! Let me think about how to approach it in a way that makes sense. I am guessing that you (and most women) are concerned especially about changes in the waist and hips?

yes it’s a pants problem for sure. i’m still very active and nothing else has changed but i think my midsection is expanding slightly and in order to be kind to myself i need clothes that don’t make me uncomfortable, but i don’t want to be replacing all the things regularly!

I’ve been thinking about this for a few days and I will probably address it within a post somewhere. But basically I have a daily issue with bottoms beyond weight and PMS fluctuations bc as soon as I eat something, my stomach balloons. It’s something I’ve dealt with my whole life so how I dress works around it. If you go through my outfits, you’ll notice I almost never wear anything tight around the stomach, and if so it’s paired with a high waisted, pleated or something roomy around the stomach so my stomach can balloon under the waist line. Most of my tops are not even fitted, at best they graze or blouson around my stomach for room. You will almost never (I can think of like two outfits off the top of my head) see me wear anything that’s tight in the stomach and also tight through the hips/thighs as you will see the bloat immediately. I hope that helps?

it totally does make sense and eating affects me similarly (maybe most people?). honestly i can’t believe it’s taken me this many years to come to grips with the fact that i don’t need to buy the smallest size that fits me. i have been so conditioned to want to embrace being smaller and after losing about 10 lbs a few years ago i replaced a lot of bottoms. now, i can’t ever imagine wanting to buy something that wouldn’t accommodate fluctuation. the fact that baggier silhouettes feel current and modern just adds to this feeling. thanks for your reply!

Yes the new cuts and high waists of the past 5 years are a godsend. The clothes of the 00s were terrible for this.

BUT also don’t want to sell all my bottoms because not sure what’s temporary vs permanent, you know? ugh!

See my comment to Amy’s question in case you don’t receive a notification. As for steamer, Jiffy’s are the gold standard. I also store things so I see everything so I don’t forget anything. I fold all my knits and sweaters, on my ikea bookshelf lol. Bags and shoes - same. Everything else is hung.

Hi Irene. Loving the newsletter and the suggestions made above. I wonder about a post around bags, some good basics to have and where you source these?

Hi Irene, loving everything you've shared so far! I'd love to hear about how you play with proportions and plan outfits around various proportions on top vs bottom because that's something that I've seen you do so incredibly well and something I'd love to learn how to do as well. Thank you so much for the time you're putting into this newsletter - I already love it so much!

Amazing idea Irene! I loved every post you did on Instagram and even better to have them all of them collected here :).

I would love to have your suggestion for places here in the city of Toronto to buy underware (I think you mentioned in one post but I forgot to take notes on time) and shoes!! Thanks so much for doing this😘

Hi Claudia! Thanks so much for supporting the newsletter! The underwear store is Melmira at Yonge & Lawrence. Shoes? Welp....I get my shoes from all over - in store and online, and it really depends on what shoe you want. I don't go to any particular store when I want to look at shoes. Can you be more specific?

Loving your newsletter so much! I have so many questions! A lot of them are focused around how to wear/style clothes (maybe in combination with clothes of different proportions). For example, how do you get your long-sleeved shirt sleeves to stay up? Do you ever do a half-tuck for a button-down shirt? Do you roll up jeans/pants? What do you think of belts? How do you decide on purses as a style element? Do you use socks as a style element? What is the perfect t-shirt/sweater tuck, etc.? I would also love to hear any thoughts you have to share on tailoring, hemming pants, skirts, etc. Thank you in advance for considering!
